One hundred new landowners will be impacted by a revised route for transmission lines proposed for the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), while 98 existing landholders will be removed from the proposed corridor.
The corridor runs on the outskirts of Tamworth, bypassing the city through Barry, Nundle State Forest, Ogunbil, and to the east of Walcha, in the new changes announced on Thursday, October 2, by EnergyCo.
The state-owned agency charged with the development of the state's five REZs announced the changes following extensive community consultation, citing safer construction, reduced environmental impact, and less disruption to local roads.
But before the new route is finalised, EnergyCo says it will engage in community consultation to identify where the lines will be located.
