VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. —
A man running a travel company with a Massachusetts address is accused of defrauding a group of Florida students and chaperones out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Robert Goodwin, 56, is accused of using his travel agency, Stone & Compass Inc., to sell and then cancel without a refund an international trip to 104 students and chaperones from a high school in Volusia County, Florida, the county sheriff said.
Stone & Compass Inc. is listed as a Delaware-based corporation with a mailing address in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Goodwin is the "sole owner, officer, and operator of Stone & Compass, Inc.," according to a a complaint filed by Florida's attorney general.
