A violent clash between two student organisations at Karachi University on Wednesday escalated into street protests, with dozens of students staging a sit-in outside Mubina Town police station.
Demonstrators set tyres ablaze, blocking traffic on Abul Hassan Ispahani Road, and accused police of delaying the registration of a case against their rivals.
The protest followed an incident earlier in the day when nearly two dozen members of one student group attacked the rival group’s camp with sticks near the university’s Arts Lobby.
At least one student, identified as Faheem, sustained head and leg injuries. Attackers also torched motorcycles parked in front of the administration building, leaving one vehicle destroyed.
