PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A Portsmouth man was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Wednesday for sexual assault, according to the Portsmouth Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.
Authorities say on Sept. 1, 2020, Lester Potts Jr. raped a woman at her home. During the trial earlier this year, the victim testified against Potts Jr., and prosecutors presented forensic evidence corroborating her account.
Potts was found guilty of one count of rape and sentenced to 25 years in prison with 13 years suspended, followed by five years of supervised probation.
