ANN ARBOR, MI –Ann Arbor Public Schools will continue to cover free meals through Oct. 7 after state lawmakers passed a short-term budget bill Wednesday.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who’s been an outspoken supporter of universal school breakfast and lunch for K-12 students, announced early Wednesday, Oct. 1, that she’d signed a funding extension for the next seven days to avoid a government shutdown and allow legislators more time to finalize a 2025-26 budget deal.
