SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux submitted the city’s proposed 2026 operating and capital improvements budgets to the city council Wednesday (October 1).
The operating budget proposes 2026 spending of $709.4 million, an increase of 3.7% from 2025. The capital improvements budget totals more than $1.1 billion, of which $34.3 million is for new projects.
In his budget message to the Shreveport City Council, the mayor identified his highest priorities for 2026:
Working with the police department and the public to continue the recent downward trend in major crimes.
Moving the city’s bond issue-funded projects to construction and completion. This includes projects approved by the voters in both 2021 and 2024.
