WILLIAMSBURG — A CITY-OWNED BUILDING at 390 Kent Ave., near the Williamsburg Bridge, is set to be redeveloped into a complex featuring 900 new apartments, with at least 25% of them affordable, Mayor Eric Adams recently announced. The plan also includes a new public waterfront space, according to Greenpointers .
Currently housing offices for the departments of Transportation and Citywide Administration Services, the site was flagged under Adams’ executive order requiring agencies to identify city-owned properties suitable for housing redevelopment. Officials have identified 11 properties, which could someday yield nearly 1,000 units citywide.
A public engagement process will begin this year, followed by a request for proposals inviting developers’ plans.
