NEWINGTON, CT. (WFSB) - Another week of practice and preparation has come for Newington High School.

The first few weeks have gone exceptionally well, and you can really sense a positive vibe at practice.

“We are a brotherhood here. It’s the culture. We all have played with each other forever. We play for the guy next to us,” said Emilio Figueroa, senior lineman.

They play for head coach John Acquavita, who is in his third year at the school. Last week’s win over Enfield marked the 150th of his great career.

“I had forgotten about no one talked about then it happened,” he said. “They brought it up again. So I’m lucky that I have a good group of assistants to worry about that stuff for me and remind me and celebrate with me, which is nice.”
