The Dallas City Council finance committee will begin its review of the long-term viability of Dallas City Hall later this month.
With its imposing inverted triangle design, Dallas City Hall has loomed over the downtown skyline since it opened in March 1978.
How much longer the I.M. Pei architectural creation lasts is a question the council’s finance committee will take up on Oct. 21.
Council member Chad West, who chairs the committee, said the review will focus on the future of the seven-story, concrete-clad seat of municipal government.
“Do we stay here or do we go somewhere else?” West said on Wednesday. He added that he likes the look of the building.
“It’s got a lot of cool aspects, but a lot of challenges too.”
