KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department and other first responders will be holding a full-scale emergency drill at Dow Chemical near downtown Knoxville on Thursday.

The drill will take place just off I-40 near the Alcoa Highway exit on Dale Avenue.

According to KPD, first responders will be training to respond to chemical incidents using a simulated emergency exercise.

"People living or working near Dow Knoxville may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and activity in the area during the drill. Unless otherwise notified, this is for training purposes only and not a real emergency," KPD said. "While the scenario is not real, it is designed to test emergency response plans and strengthen communication and coordination among participating agencies."
