A new skilled nursing facility in downtown Fresno means expanded care options for Community Health patients needing extra recovery.

The 154-bed Burnett Extended Care Center across the street from the downtown office offers long-term and short-term skilled nursing and will begin accepting patients this fall, said Cory Belliston, chief operating officer for post acute services at Community Health.

“It will be patients that are discharging from the hospital that may not be ready to be taken care of at home,” Belliston said Wednesday. “So, they’ll come here to be able to receive physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and also just be able to improve their activities of daily living with the goal of hopefully being able to discharge home.”
