More than 400 people were arrested and close to 300 were injured during protests across Morocco demanding changes in public health and education sectors, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

The demonstrations, which were not authorised by authorities, entered their fifth straight day on Wednesday. According to news agency AFP, protests were organised at the call of GenZ 212, a newly formed online collective that operates mainly through Discord.

Protesters pointed to billions spent on Morocco’s 2030 World Cup preparations while schools and hospitals remain lack funds and in poor condition.
