Government shutdown affects 92,000 Arizona federal workers, data shows

There are about 92,000 federal employees in Arizona. Per capita, it's in the middle of the pack at 22nd. Arizona's neighbor New Mexico, as well as Oklahoma, Wyoming and Montana, have a per capita range of 44 to 55 federal employees. The lowest rates are in the Rust Belt and New England, and the highest rates are in the nation's capital itself and Maryland.
