WHITNEY, Texas — One person is dead following a deadly crash in Hill County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Texas DPS said the crash happened around 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30 on FM-933, near the intersection of FM-1713 north of Whitney.
According to DPS, a preliminary investigation suggests that a Toyota RAV4 traveling north on FM-933 crossed over the center dividing line and crashed into a GMC Sierra traveling south. The RAV4 then reportedly overturned.
DPS said both drivers were taken to surrounding hospitals, where the driver of the Toyota, identified as 84-year-old Eugene Aleshire of Whitney, later died.
DPS said next of kin has been notified, and an investigation is ongoing.
