LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Citing a "transparency crisis," conservation groups released a report on Wednesday to call attention to inaction on how to solve conflicting demands for water from the Colorado River.
The report, titled, "There's No Water Available: Commonsense Recommendations to Limit Colorado River Conflict," lists priorities from a half-dozen conservation groups that track water issues. It comes as public participation has been sidelined as negotiations go on behind closed doors.
Comments during a video conference call timed with the report's release took aim at the state negotiators as the public is kept in the dark. Conservationists blasted negotiators for the secrecy surrounding decisions that affect so many people.
