CHICAGO (WLS) -- On Wednesday, a group of traveling students from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy collected their conclave costumes.

They were the same ones that brought them international attention. Now, they're getting ready for their show on the road to Rome -- all the way to the pope.

It was a school assignment seen around the world.

"This was just supposed to be an activity that we did for our students on a Tuesday," said Allison Foeister, with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy.

Days before the College of Cardinals elected native Chicagoan Pope Leo XIV, a group of students at Lakeview's Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy took part in a unique class project, hosting their own mini conclave.
