The ongoing demolition of Olympian hockey player Mohammed Shahid’s ancestral house for a road widening project in Varanasi has turned into a full-blown family feud, with his wife, Parveen, getting an FIR registered against her two brothers-in-law for alleged assault.

Officials said the feud has erupted in Shahid’s family over the compensation money offered to them by the Varanasi district administration for razing the house in the Kacheri area of the city.

While Shahid’s wife and other family members have accepted Rs 32 lakh compensation, Shahid’s two elder brothers — Riyazuddin and Moinuddin – have refused to accept it, calling it inadequate.
