WASHINGTON, D.C. (KXNET) — This week, the Senate is trying to work out an agreement to continue funding the federal government.
That means around 750,000 federal workers could be sent home until a new agreement is passed.
On Tuesday, North Dakota senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer both voted in support of the latest resolution to fund the government through November 21. However, that vote failed 55-45 as senate leadership was not able to get to 60 votes.
Senator Cramer says one Democrat who voted 'yes' was Catherine Cortez Masto, who's up for re-election in Nevada.
"I think that's what you're going to see is a lot of democrats who are on the ballot looking at some of the issues you pointed to. But also, voting against opening the government is just not a natural thing for Democrats.
