ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. — An Albemarle County School Board member is facing criticism after comparing a student-run club at Western Albemarle High School to the Ku Klux Klan in a now-deleted Facebook post.

The controversy began when board member Allison Spillman posted to Facebook voicing her opposition to a scheduled lunchtime talk hosted by the school’s Turning Point USA chapter. The speaker, Victoria Cobb, president of the Family Foundation of Virginia, was set to deliver a presentation titled “Two Genders, One Truth.”
