Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu once said she had more conversations with NBA commissioner Adam Silver than she had with her own league’s commissioner Cathy Engelbert.

It’s part of the reason Ionescu said she was excited to be one of the 40 WNBA players who showed up in an Indianapolis hotel ballroom to meet with Engelbert and other league executives during All-Star weekend in July amid ongoing collective bargaining agreement negotiations.

“It’s important to have real conversations,” Ionescu said then. “I’ve talked to Adam Silver about it a lot when I’ve seen him and just knowing players feel comfortable and confident going up to him in the NBA and being able to talk about things like adults and things that are important.
