MONROE, La. (KNOE) - With the government officially shut down, Political Science Professor from ULM, Dr. Joshua Stockley, says most people should not see a significant change in day-to-day life, but to expect delays in federal services.
He says, “I think the common theme will be delays of probably what many people would consider non-essential services. The essential services will still be provided by the government.”
The shut down is in place because Democrats and Republicans in Congress were not able to reach a resolution about health care funding.
Dr. Stockley said one of the biggest hits this area could face in light of the shutdown is in the federal flood insurance program.
Dr. Stockley says, “It [flood insurance program] is set to expire. And so, during the tenure of this shutdown
