Melbourne star Clayton Oliver expects to be told to find a new club in the trade period, as he sits down with new coach Steven King on Thursday.
Oliver, who is signed through 2030 on a deal worth $1.7m per season, has dealt with off-field and mental health issues across the last few seasons and has not been the superstar midfielder he once was.
He has been a story across the last two trade periods, but the Dees refused to move him in 2023 and interest dropped away in 2024 after a poor season. Advertisement
Oliver played 22 games for the Dees this season and found some rhythm, but hasn't returned to the four-time best and fairest winner he once was.
Nine's chief AFL reporter Tom Morris believes the 28-year-old is disappointed at once again being thrust into the trade space.
