The National Republican Congressional Committee launched a new ad campaign Wednesday targeting Democrats over the federal government shutdown .

The NRCC’s new ad accuses Democrats of shutting down the government, cutting off paychecks for military troops, police, and Border Patrol, and blocking disaster relief. The spot also claims Democrats are pushing “handouts for illegal immigrants.”

“While Democrats shut down our government to bankroll handouts for illegal immigrants and appease their radical base, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Zach Nunn, and Republicans are focused on keeping the government working for Iowans," NRCC spokesperson Emily Tuttle said. "The contrast couldn’t be clearer, and Iowans know they have a fighter with Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn.”
