BOISE, Idaho – A record 121 Idaho mayors including those in Moscow, Lewiston and Post Falls have started the Mayor’s Walking Challenge .
It’s an annual event organized by the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health to promote physical activity and community well-being across the state.
“We are thankful and fortunate that most Idaho’s mayors understand the importance of physical activity and are willing to step forward for their communities,” Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health Program Officer Lisa Bearg said. “We have a lot of familiar faces walking again this year, as well as first-time walkers from cities that hadn’t previously participated.”
The challenge sets daily step goals of 5,000 or 10,000 steps throughout October. Participants use a smartphone app or activity tracker
