COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The Columbus Police Department has announced additional arrests in the August 29 shooting death of 22-year-old Jacarie Charles at Shirley B. Winston Recreation Center.

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, CPD’s Fugitive Unit arrested three more suspects in connection with the case: Elijah Smith, 20; Christopher Culler, 18; and Cortez Turner, 21. Each is charged with murder and armed robbery.

In addition, JaMorris Baker, 20, who was previously charged in the case, has been extradited to Columbus and booked into the Muscogee County Jail. Smith, Turner, Culler, and Baker are scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 1:30 p.m.

Investigators say more arrests are expected as the case moves forward.
