PHOENIX — Firefighters are battling a blaze at a battery storage facility in the West Valley that broke out on Wednesday evening.

The Peoria Fire Department informed KTAR News 92.3 FM that efforts to contain the blaze near 73rd and Northern avenues are expected to continue for an extended period.

Patty Garcia-Likens, a spokesperson with the Salt River Project (SRP), said the fire was located at the 25-megawatt battery system located at its Bolster Substation, which is adjacent to the Agua Fria Generating Station in Peoria.

“The battery is currently offline and there are no outages associated with this incident.,” Garcia-Likens told KTAR News. “Glendale, Peoria and Phoenix fire departments are on scene and SRP appreciates their quick response.”

There were no reported injuries as of 6:30
