Authorities in suburban Crestwood say at least eight first responders were hospitalized while investigating a suspected drug lab.

According to Crestwood police, authorities were called to the scene of an incident involving a suspected methamphetamine lab on Tuesday.

During the subsequent investigation, four firefighters and four police officers were transported to an area hospital, where they were treated and released for unspecified ailments, according to authorities.

A suspect connected to the alleged drug operation remains hospitalized with injuries suffered during the incident, police said.

No further information was available, and an investigation remains underway.
