CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person was killed after being hit by a car in north Charlotte on Wednesday.

The crash happened on Beatties Ford Road near Lasalle Street, police said. A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the scene.

Authorities urged motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

Police did not say what led to the crash. It's not known if any charges will be filed.
