NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metro Council is considering a group of housing and infrastructure bills, including one that would create two new zoning categories aimed at creating more middle density housing.
The new legislation came out of Metro’s Housing and Infrastructure Study which looked at Nashville’s residential development and created recommendations for ways to control the city’s growth and housing market.
In June, Metro Planning Staff released a series of recommendations based on their findings including recommended updates to the city’s existing zoning codes.
They included proposed changes to the current zoning code to expand the areas where homeowners can build Detached Accessory Dwelling Units (DADUs) and lower height restrictions for single-family homes and duplexes.
