New Delhi, Oct 02: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved an increase in minimum support prices (MSP) for rabi crops for the 2026-27 marketing season.

The highest hike is for safflower at Rs 600 per quintal, followed by lentil at Rs 300, and increases for rapeseed and mustard, gram, barley, and wheat at Rs 250, Rs 225, Rs 170, and Rs 160 per quintal, respectively.

This adjustment aligns with the Union Budget 2018-19’s directive to set MSP at least 1.5 times the average cost of production, aiming to provide better prices for farmers and encourage crop diversification.
