The United States will begin providing Ukraine with intelligence on long-range energy infrastructure targets inside Russia, two U.S. officials told Reuters on Wednesday, confirming a Wall Street Journal report. Washington is also urging NATO allies to offer similar assistance.

The move marks the first significant policy shift signed off by President Donald Trump since he adopted a tougher stance toward Moscow in recent weeks, aimed at ending Russia’s more than three-year war in Ukraine.

While the U.S. has already shared battlefield intelligence with Kyiv, the new approach would make it easier for Ukraine to strike refineries, pipelines and power plants, seeking to cut off a key source of revenue for the Kremlin.
