There were a few scary moments at the Saddledome Wednesday night for the Calgary Flames.
Forward Jonathan Huberdeau exited the Flames’ pre-season loss against the Vancouver Canucks in the third period after colliding with goaltender Kevin Lankinen.
The incident happened late in the final frame as Huberdeau was driving the net. Canucks defenceman Filip Hronek was applying pressure and caused the fourth-year Flame to lose his balance, which caused the collision in the Canucks’ crease. Huberdeau’s face appeared to hit Lankinen’s mask.
Huberdeau remained down on the ice and looked to be in serious pain as Flames trainers tended to him. He was able to skate off on his own power. Hronek was assessed a two-minute minor penalty for holding.
