BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - As Congress continues to try and pass a federal budget, the government shutdown is impacting part of the Civil Rights District in Birmingham.

The A.G. Gaston Motel , run by the National Park Service will not be staffed with park rangers on site to enhance your experience and answer questions.

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute brings in over 150,000 visitors every year, but for now, visitors won’t get the full experience of the A.G Gaston Motel because park service employees are not working during the shutdown. And even though only part of the district will be closed, people who work in the neighborhood say it will impact everything.
