ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Brides in Northeast Florida are scrambling to save their wedding plans after Chez L’Amour, a popular restaurant and event venue in St. Augustine, abruptly closed its doors. The closure has set off a dispute between the owner and landlord that has now left couples out thousands of dollars.

Annalisse Colonna and her fiancé were among the customers caught in the middle. Colonna said they booked their rehearsal dinner at Chez L’Amour for Oct. 31, paying $2,500 upfront.

“When we booked, we were being offered a promotional discount if we paid the full price in 24 hours,” Colonna said. “We didn’t think anything of that at the time since we were comfortable with the restaurant and had dined there before.”
