Varanasi, Oct 2 (UNI) Renowned classical singer and Padma Vibhushan awardee Pandit Chhannulal Mishra passed away today in Mirzapur after a prolonged illness.
The last rites will be performed at Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi this evening, according to his daughter, Namrata Mishra.
Pandit Mishra had been unwell for several months and was residing with his daughter. His health deteriorated on September 11, leading to his admission to a hospital in Mirzapur.
When his condition failed to improve, he was referred to BHU for treatment from September 13 to 27. He was brought back to Mirzapur after his health showed a temporary improvement.
The BHU medical report noted that Pandit Mishra suffered from several ailments, including Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and a lung infection.
