Centenary celebrations of RSS marked with commemorative coin and postal stamp; Opposition raises concerns over ideological promotion
To mark the 100th anniversary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday released a Rs 100 commemorative coin and a Rs 500 postal stamp featuring RSS volunteers and Bharat Mata—a first in independent India.
The coin displays Bharat Mata in Varada Mudra, standing on a lotus with a lion by her side and holding the RSS flag, while three RSS volunteers bow in devotion. It also features the RSS motto: “Rashtray Swaha, Idam Rashtraya, Idam Na Mama” (“Everything is dedicated to the nation; nothing is mine”), with the years 1925–2025 inscribed to mark the centenary.
