WELLSBURG — Brooke County officials agreed, Tuesday, to fill two vacancies in security posts at the county courthouse.
At the request of Sheriff Richard Beatty, county commissioners approved the hiring of two security officers for the courthouse, citing recent retirements and resignations.
“We have a couple of people in mind,” Beatty said “We’ve interviewed them. We think they would be good.”
The employment would be pending the completion of background and drug screenings, it was noted by commissioners.
“It shouldn’t be a problem,” Beatty said, adding each of the new hires has previous employment with the Bureau of Prisons. “They’re 25 years in federal law enforcement.”
It was noted, while the hiring would be effective for Wednesday, the two would begin work Monday.
