A 60-year-old man, trying to reconcile with his estranged wife, allegedly smothered her to death with a pillow in a fit of rage in Mumbai’s Powai.
The victim, 56-year-old Shalini Devi, was a flight attendant-turned-lawyer, who had been living separately from her husband Rajiv Chandrabhan Lala. Their son resides in the United States.
According to police, Shalini died after being assaulted by her husband at their flat in Powai’s Aditya Wardhan Society. She was found injured and rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead, the police said.
“During the investigation, it has been revealed that her husband, Rajive Chandrabhan Lala, 60, had forcefully entered the flat and assaulted her. The accused has been arrested," the Mumbai police said, adding that a case was registered at Powai
