Pandit Chhannulal Mishra, a Padma Vibhushan awardee and a renowned Hindustani classical singer, passed away in the early hours of Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the age of 89, after battling with age-related health issues.

Mishra’s daughter Namrata Mishra told PTI that the veteran singer breathed his last around 4 am. An exponent of Banaras gharana school of Hindustani classical music , the legendary singer’s demise marks end of an era.

“He was admitted to the hospital for the last 17-18 days with age-related issues. He passed away at home this morning at around 4 am,” his daughter Namrata told PTI.
