AFTER THE TORNADO: While St. Louis struggles to clean up the aftermath of the May 16 tornado that decimated large chunks of the city, U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley is pushing the federal government to act quicker.
On Tuesday, in his role as chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Disaster Management, Hawley asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide details about its clean-up procedure.
"It's a mess," Missouri's senior GOP senator told the Post-Dispatch in an interview. "There's still debris on the street. FEMA hasn't followed up with city officials. There are individuals who qualify for assistance and their claims aren't being processed, they're not getting paid."
