OCEAN CITY — Three businesses have expressed interest in purchasing the former Gillian's Wonderland site, owner Eustace Mita has said.

Mita said he was going to put the property on the market in August after City Council rejected a resolution asking the Planning Board to review whether the property should be designated an area in need of redevelopment. Mita wanted to build a 252-room hotel at the site.

The total cost of the project was estimated at $135 million to $155 million.

A hotel is not allowed under the site’s zoning, and the site would need the redevelopment designation for the project to happen.
