Kate Garraway opened Good Morning Britain with breaking news just minutes into Tuesday's programme. The presenter joined Ed Balls and Susanna Reid in the studio, leading the headlines segment shortly after the ITV show began. ‌

Kate announced: "A flotilla attempting to deliver aid to Gaza has been intercepted by the Israeli military. Members of the IDF boarded a number of ships overnight, including one carrying the activist Greta Thunberg. ‌

"A spokesperson for the flotilla said 13 boats have been intercepted, accusing Israel of carrying out illegal attacks on unarmed humanitarian ships. ‌

"Israel's foreign ministry has responded saying that Greta and her friends are safe and healthy and that passengers have been taken to an Israeli port ."
