PHILADELPHIA — The debate over whether injured players should lose their starting positions has gone on for some time in professional sports. Now, Nakobe Dean’s name enters that discussion.

When we last saw the Eagles’ 24-year-old linebacker, he was in the midst of an incredibly successful season with a team that was chasing a Super Bowl title.

For the first time since the Eagles selected him in the third round of the 2022 draft, Dean became the dominating linebacker scouts thought he would be coming out of Georgia. He started 15 games, finished second to first-team All Pro Zack Baun in team tackles and also contributed nine tackles for a loss, three sacks and a game-saving interception against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
