The Trump administration has pulled a federal magnet school grant from Jefferson County Public Schools after taking issue with the district's racial equity policies — a blow that comes as JCPS leaders attempt to address a looming budget deficit .

Along with losing the grant, federal officials have ordered the district to change its funding formula, a move that will greatly impact individual schools at a time when they also face program and service cuts due JCPS' unbalanced budget.
