NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford is preparing to open a new center for the public.
The Animal Ambassador Center will be located near the northwest corner of the zoo.
The expansion will house animals, including two new residents of the zoo, who were rescued from a fur farm near Cleveland where they were kept under abusive conditions.
Staff believe those new residents will be among the new stars of the zoo, although they haven’t said what species yet.
The ribbon cutting for the zoo expansion will be this morning at 11.
