Rajnath Singh warns Pakistan over Sir Creek tensions

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issued a strong warning to Pakistan regarding any military actions in the Sir Creek area, stating that such actions would provoke a "decisive response" from India. Speaking at a military base in Bhuj, Gujarat, Singh emphasized that the response could significantly alter both "history and geography." His remarks come amid concerns over Pakistan's recent military infrastructure expansion in the disputed region.

Sir Creek, a 96-km tidal estuary, lies between Gujarat and Pakistan's Sindh province. The area has been a point of contention between the two nations for decades, primarily due to differing interpretations of maritime boundaries. Singh noted that despite India's efforts to resolve the issue through dialogue, Pakistan continues to create disputes over Sir Creek, reflecting its "ill intentions."

During the event, which coincided with the Dussehra festival, Singh performed 'shastra puja' (worship of weapons) and highlighted the Indian military's successful completion of Operation Sindoor. This operation aimed to counter terrorist threats and demonstrated India's military capabilities without escalating into a full-scale conflict. Singh stated, "If Pakistan dares to act in the Sir Creek sector, the reply will be so strong that it will change both history and geography."

The Defence Minister also inaugurated a tidal berthing facility and a joint control centre in the region, which are expected to enhance coastal security and operational capabilities. He praised the Indian armed forces for their effective response during Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territories following a terror attack in Pahalgam.

Singh reiterated that India's military objectives were achieved without provoking a wider conflict, emphasizing the importance of restraint. He described the Army, Air Force, and Navy as the "three pillars" of India's strength, asserting that their collaboration is crucial for addressing various challenges, including external aggression and cyber warfare.

As tensions continue over Sir Creek, Singh's statements underline India's commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity and responding decisively to any threats from Pakistan. He concluded by reminding that the worship of weapons on Dussehra symbolizes respect for the nation's strength and security.
