TAMPA, Fla. — Local nonprofits are gearing up for an extended government shutdown if lawmakers can’t find a budget-compromise this week.
On average, government shutdowns have lasted around one week in the U.S., but seven years ago during President Trump’s first term, a shutdown extended for 35 days.
