MYSURU: The famous Dasara procession, known as the Jamboo Savari, got off to a start with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah offering flowers to an idol Goddess Chamundeshwari placed in the golden howdah which was carried by lead elephant Abhimanyu at the Mysuru palace premises. The CM was accompanied by other ministers, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar of the Mysuru royal family and district officials.
The Jamboo Savari marks the conclusion of the 10-day Dasara festivities. Seating arrangements at the Amba Vilas Palace grounds had been made for 48,000 spectators, including dignitaries and the general public. The golden howdah was decorated with flowers, including jasmine, roses, and marigolds, by a team led by Manjunath, who has been doing this work for 27 years.
