LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - While speaking in Toronto on Wednesday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer addressed the potential impacts of federal tariffs, emphasizing the harm they are causing to Michigan, particularly its manufacturing and auto industries.

“Now I’ve been clear, tariffs have a place. I’m not opposed to tariffs outright. But we can’t treat them as a one-size-fits-all solution. And we certainly shouldn’t be using them to punish our partners, our allies, our closest trading partners,” said Whitmer.
