One person was injured when two Delta Air Lines regional jets collided while taxiing at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Oct. 1, officials said.
An outbound flight and an inbound flight, which were both operated by Delta subsidiary Endeavor Air, collided at 9:58 p.m. local time on the taxiway, the Port Authority of New York said in a statement to USA TODAY.
One person on the flights suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital "as a precautionary measure," the agency said.
Delta Air Lines said in a statement to USA TODAY that the aircrafts were involved in "a low-speed collision."
"Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience," the statement said.
No passengers injured in collision, Delta says
Delta said no passengers were injured in the collision. A flight attendant reported minor injuries.
According to air traffic control audio from the incident, the flight attendant sustained injuries to her knee and head.
Based on preliminary information, the wing of the departing jet collided with the fuselage of the arriving jet, according to Delta. The departing flight was headed to Roanoke, Virginia, and the arriving flight was coming from Charlotte, North Carolina.
There were a total of 85 passengers on the two jets. They were deplaned on the taxiway and transferred by bus back to the airport terminal.
Passengers were rebooked on flights for Oct. 2, Delta said.
LaGuardia Airport operations not impacted after planes collide on taxiway
Port Authority said there was no impact to the rest of the airport, which is located in Queens, New York.
No arrival or departure delays have been reported on Oct. 2, according to FlightAware.
